About Tara: "It has been an easy transition for Tara and I, since she was already on a great diet and is a very healthy weight. Because of this, her doctor told me that is why she is being diagnosed at 13 years old instead of 6 or 8 years old. I have always striven to make sure she is on the best diet and has the best supplements. The biggest challenge at first was getting the right dose of insulin for her. She was extremely sensitive to the NPH insulin. Now that we have her on the right dosage, life is great. If I could give one piece of advice to other diabetic dog owners, it would be to keep their dog on a good diet and continue to get them out for exercise daily. They don't know they are sick, so keep their daily activity as close as possible to what it used to be. Love them and do everything you can to make them happy and comfortable".
