January DogaBetix Diabetic Dog of the Month - Meet Vito!

We are proud to announce that Vito has been named our DogaBetix Diabetic Dog of the Month for January! Read more about Vito and don't forget to nominate your dog for a future dog of the month as well!

Name: Vito

Human Parent's Name: Shannon

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Pug

Favorite Activity: Going to the Park

Biggest Challenge While Treating Vito: Vito had 3 big challenges. First, getting his insulin regulated took a very long time. Second, he got cataracts and had surgery to remove them about 3 months after his diagnosis Third, the original food the vet had him on turned out to be bad for him. It took us more than 8 months to figure that out.

Advice for Other Diabetic Dog Owners: My advice to other diabetic dog owners is to be prepared for cataracts. My vet didn't tell me that nearly 80% of dogs with diabetes get cataracts within a year of diagnosis. It's better to be prepared for the possibility than to be completely caught off guard when it happens.

Thank you to Shannon and Vito for sharing your story! We hope you enjoy the treats!
